Jay-Z and Linkin Park proved that crossbreeding different genres can manufacture a commercial sound, which fans of both music styles can appreciate.
Perhaps this special unison between British R&B singer Ny and various UK grime artists - including Ghetto and JME - was inspired by Fort Minor? In recent years, Ny has established herself as a sought-after act on the underground, thanks to her song writing talent and angelic voice. Don’t get it twisted though, Ny may sound like butter-wouldn’t-melt but she has a force of UK, street attitude behind her. Singing over productions from the likes of grime stars Wiley and Terror Danjah, Ny’s style is clearly ‘sweet but street’. On tracks 'Real Or Fake' and 'What I See', Ny uses her tranquil tones to neutralise the grimey sounds of Ghetto, Professor Green and JME. Currently causing havoc on the underground airwaves is 'Fire', a collaboration with MC Purple, where we hear Ny sing about street life and its affects on youth culture today.
Successfully fusing UK hip hop, grime, R&B and eclectic urban flavours, 'Split Endz: Volume 2' results in giving the listener a balanced mix of mellow and street.
