BUSTA RHYMES: BUSTED?
Busta Rhymes is to face 4 criminal charges later this year, accounting for drunk driving, assaulting an employee, driving with a suspended licence and assaulting a fan who allegedly spat on Rhymes's car.
Judge Larry Stephen from the Manhattan District Court clarified that Busta's charges are to be trialed separately, starting from September 5 this year.
The rapper's defence lawyer Scott Leemon, claims him to be happy with the trial decision's as they possess a valid defence for all cases.
On Tuesday, Rhymes (real name Trevor Smith) faced a judge for the first of the charges reported against him, the judge denying a motion to consolidate 2 assault charges, meaning the rapper could be issued with some lengthy prison-time behind bars.
Busta has turned down the second offer of a year in jail to cover all the cases. "It's the same offer" the prosecutor made at Rhymes' last court appearance, his lawyer said, "and it's one which Busta adamantly rejects."
